Cristian Ceresoli is a writer, born in Bergamo in 1975. His debut writing is La Merda (2012). The “extraordinary, brutal, disturbing and human” (The Times) text on the human condition earned him the Fringe First Award for Writing Excellence (first Italian ever), the Arches Brick Award for Emerging Art and a nomination for the Total Theater Award for Innovation at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2012. In Italy, among others, the Critics Award.
La Merda, originally written in Italian, is translated, published or staged around the world in numerous other languages, including English, Greek, Danish, Czech, Spanish, Galician, Portuguese, French, German, Swedish, Norwegian and being translated into other languages. The work is published in a bilingual edition by the English publisher Oberon Books in 2012 and in 2017 in Italy by Gallucci HD.
La Merda manifests as a stream of consciousness where, in poetry, the bulimic and revolting public confidence of a “young” ugly woman who tries with obstinacy, resistance and courage to break through the society of the Thighs and Freedoms is unleashed.
The original production, performed in English or Italian by The Stage Award Winning actress Silvia Gallerano, has enjoyed great success with audiences and critics all over the world (from Europe to Brazil, from Australia to North America). Eight years after his debut, the phenomenon that has long broken the boundaries of theater and it is welcomed as if it were a rock concert, continues its live tour, recording sold out both in large cities and in the remote suburbs and provinces.
The Brazilian production (A Merda) interpreted by Christiane Tricerri, as well as the Danish production (Lort) interpreted by Danica Curcic and the Norwegian one (Dritt) with Helga Guren, make a long tour studded with sold out and prestigious national awards.
In 2009 he wrote a sung opera, with original music, dedicated to the Gospels inlaid to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, entitled La Dolorosa (2009). On commission of the Arena di Verona, he writes the opera libretto Othello Sex Machine (2013).
In 2019 the debut in Denmark and Italy, in 2020 in Norway, of his new writing a lysergic and psychedelic play entitled Happy Hour (2019). The “desperate, chilling, fierce and poetic” (The Scotsman) work was composed starting from 2007, as if it were the second fragment of the same landscape, as if (with La Merda) the two works illuminated parts of the same painting. Happy Hour has been nominated at Copenhagen Culture as Best New Play.
It is a score (or city) where amusing mass deportations occur, in which the most colorful of fascisms is affirmed. A poem of tendency to the overwhelming rhythm of an uninterrupted and daily happy hour, in a delirious renewal of the language, crossed by a humanity that enjoys life, gheparded clothing and is willing to do anything to defend their enthusiasm.
The Italian production with Silvia Gallerano & Stefano Cenci and the Danish production with Özlem Saglanmak e Asbjorn Krogh Nissen are both directed by Simon Boberg, an internationally renowned Danish director, formerly director of the theatrical and television production of Lort (La Merda) in Denmark. The Norwegian production with Helga Guren & Karl Vidar directed by Audny Chris Holsen makes its debut in September 2020.
Ceresoli has recently written his first film with Roberta Torre (with the help of Silvia Gallerano) for he won the fund of the Ministry of Culture dedicated to writers. He also wan the fund dedicated to productions, as well as Piedmont Film Commision fund, with Le Favolose, also directed by Roberta Torre.
He is now finishing to write a book, with a scandalous title.
From 2013 he collaborates with the Olivier, TONY and EMMY Award-winning producer Richard Jordan Productions.

Kerfuffle er en dreng, en verdensmester. Mens Ado, hans søster, er en pige.
Mor og far er lykkelige. Fordi det er obligatorisk.
De to søskende fortæller i en intens og fabulerende tankestrøm om deres opvækst i et samfund, hvor en spritny og højst effektiv form for munter totalitarisme er under fremkomst. Det er en verden med hylende morsomme massedeportationer og sjove udslettelser. Hvor den mest kulørte fascisme råder, hvor folk nyder livet og hvor dresscoden er leopardmønstret.
Den italienske forfatter Cristian Ceresoli stod bag kæmpesuccesen LORT (La Merda) og er vokset op i et medietyrannisk skindemokrati. De fascistoide tendenser, i det samfund der omgiver søskendeparret, er dog kun alt for genkendelige, også for et dansk publikum. HAPPY HOUR er et fragment af det samme landskab som i La Merda, og folder sig ud som en dystopisk advarsel om, hvor vi risikerer at ende, hvis ikke vi genovervejer grundlæggende strukturer og værdier i vores verden.
HAPPY HOUR havde italiensk premiere i oktober 2018 med Silvia Gallerano og Stefano Cenci på scenen. Både den italienske og danske version er instrueret af Simon K. Boberg. Næste sæson vil den turnere i Italien og resten af verden derefter.
